Background

Due to a steady increase in the crime rate in Chicago, the city—arguably the basketball Mecca of the world—has seen a significant drop in basketball participation among middle and high-schoolers. Nike wanted to restore belief in Chicago basketball to help keep kids in school, off the street, and on the court.

Idea

Access to organized sport and opportunities for youth to play is critical in Chicago's most underserved neighborhoods. Nike's Just Do It HQ at The Church celebrated the power of sport to bring the city together by building stronger communities. In partnership with the community, Nike Chicago transformed the vacant Church of Epiphany in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood into a cultural hub for basketball, inspiration, and the ultimate summer training program to help Chicago's youth chase their dreams.
